One-legged Wood Sand

I was pleased to find a Wood Sand at Mons Pool yesterday, although the shine was taken off it a little as it had a broken or dislocated right leg, which appeared to be on backwards and flapped around when the bird moved; as a result it looked very awkward as it tried to feed, often losing its footing and flapping to regain its balance. Poor little thing.

It was still there this morning, along with a Black-wit. Other waders at Collingham this weekend have included Common Sand and Redshank
