It's been two weeks since my last patch visit, mainly because I've been in India for the last 12 days (more on that in subsequent posts...). So it was nice to see that spring has well and truly arrived, with plenty of Willow Warblers singing around the site, as well as several Blackcaps. Other new-for-year species were Swallow (2 at Mons Pool), Yellow Wagtail (1 flew north at Ferry Lane Lake), Common Sandpiper (2 at Mons Pool), and a Wheatear (next to the Silt Lagoon).
The only downers were a) some pretty bad fly-tipping on Northcroft Lane, and b) the fact that I missed both Knot and Ruff seen by Ken Lomas on Mons in the morning (and the former by John Ellis again in the evening; either it was well hidden or my scope needs a good clean...!).
