Marvellous Merlin

I managed a good walk round at Collingham and Meering today, the most time I've spent on my patch in ages. It was a gorgeous day, mild with clear blue skies and barely a breath of wind. The best bird was a cracking little male Merlin on Ferry Lane Lake, which surveyed the Linnets and Pied Wagtails which were present, and had a race with Crow at one point.

Other birds included a Whooper on the Silt Lagoon (an adult - not sure where the other adult and juvenile have gone?), 8 Redshank, and 4 Snipe, along with 12 Goldeneye and generally small numbers of winter thrushes. In addition, I scoped a distant Pinkie in with the feral geese on a floodbank looking towards Girton Pits.
